Prestige Intro
So you started here on Imperium as a tank, a hopeful big-shot DPS-er, maybe a healer or even a squishy finger-wiggling caster. You spent countless hours collecting fantastic gear, your class 3.0, the highly coveted Shawl of Imperium or any number of things offered here. And at any point during all this, you felt that maybe the class you chose just didn't fit quite right. Or you saw someone playing a class that really inspired you to new heights of being awesome (Beastlords) and you just wanted to give it a try yourself.
But what are you to do? Sure, you can just role a new character but...that shawl was so bloody annoying to work through. And who wants to repeat all the progression or the Imperium Fury quest again?
Well, good news. You don't have to start over. Not completely. The lovely folks of Imperium offer TWO alternatives as of change log 03/14/23.
You "could" speak with the Phoenix and admit defeat by rebirthing to a new level 1 class (no skills are saved) or you can continue on and discover the magic and addiction of Prestiging to a new class once you've completed your class 3.0 epic and reached level 80.
Getting started
First thing you will need to do is decide what class you are going to change to. If this new class wears the same non-vis pieces and/or vis-armor, fantastic. If not, I suggest getting a new set of abyss gear for the new class. Luckily, you will not need to make new abyss augments and many of the augments from the Greedy Goblin can be used by multiple classes as well.Quick Reference Gear Chart
Abyss Vis GearPlate Armor | WAR, PAL, SK, BARD, CLR |
Chain Armor | RNG, ROG, BER, SHM |
Leather Armor | BST, MNK, DRD |
Cloth Armor | MAG, NEC, ENC, WIZ |
Abyss Non-Vis
Defense & Tenacity | WAR, PAL, SK |
Force & Destruction | BST, ROG, BER, RNG, BARD, MNK |
Magic, Healing & Summoning | CLR, SHM, DRD, MAG, NEC, ENC, WIZ |
Second thing I suggest doing is obtaining a leveling set of gear. Having a Flame-Hilted Hammer (FHH for short) is a very nice bonus but not necessary as class specific weapons and many pieces of ALL/ALL Non-Vis can be easily gotten from farming names in Gates of Discord.
And with the introduction of the new Mining and Synthesizing skills, any master Synth Miner can make you a full set of Damascus Gear (weapons are also in this category at an extra price) for the new class.
Make sure to go gather the pieces needed for completing your new class 2.0 quest as this will make life easier. This also includes doing that class's 1.0. There are a few 1.0 epics that require you to be that specific class to start and/or complete the quest but you might find someone willing to do that bit for you for a finder's fee. It's been..awhile but I believe the classes are Paladin, Berserker, Monk, Rogue, Enchanter and Warrior specifically.
- Class 1.0
Orb of Epic Power
Yellow, Red and Blue Berries
Blood of a Royal
Dragon Egg
Charcoal
Chalk
High Quality Firing Sheet
Enchanted Gold Bar
Holy Water
Once you have these things, you are ready to prestige.
How to Prestige
First, start by removing all weapons you may have in your Primary, Secondary, Range and Ammo slots. You might also un-equip all armor and jewelry as well as it will be basically useless until 75. Now go find and speak with "The Phoenix" located in the South-East room of the Guild Lobby about Reincarnation and Rebirth. Selecting Rebirth will give you a list of all the classes. Just pick the class you wish to change to.
The server will then disconnect you and send you back to the character select screen. Yes, this IS normal and you should notice you are now listed at level 1 of that class you just chose.
Log back in. The first time you change classes, you be given a Prestige I Aug. Each completed class after this will require you to turn that augment in to The Phoenix to level it to the next rank until you have reached Prestige XVI Aug.
Now go speak with Grandmaster Guru to set your base skills (and spells) All skills (and spells) past level 1 with be gained the same way as your first run from 1 - 80 so you don't "need" to speak with him but I find it helps to make sure you are getting all the spells and skills available. You will also have to remaster any tradeskills as well as the only skills that don't get reset are alcohol tolerance and begging.
I should also point out that you can change back to your previous mastered class(es) at any time by speaking to the Phoenix and selecting Rebirth (don't forget to remove your weapons) but if you have not done the class 3.0, you WILL need to start that class at whatever the highest current level you reached was.
About Alternate Advancement Points
Once you hit 51 and can again start gaining Alternate Advancement points (AA) you will notice you have already "spent" points into many of your AA. This is because you HAVE already spent the points required as these are shared between classes. The only AA you will need to buy are your class specific.Planning for multiple Prestiges
If you are planning to master ALL of the classes, plan accordingly.
You will need to devote at least fourteen bank slots (with 10-slot containers) to holding all the things you will need as you go as well as things you may be storing for the future. This usually includes Abyss Gear, weapons that can be shared between classes, abyss augs and base augs that are not used by the current class played and possible materials used in the epic quests.
I also highly recommend that if you are attempting to master all the classes, you start with and stay with similar armor types to the class you are currently playing until they are all completed. This means if you are a monk, try doing beastlord and/or druid next. Or if you are a warrior, go to SK or Pally next and then to cleric or bard. You will save yourself a lot of plat this way as constantly swapping out the Abyss Infused augments will get pricey.
Solo, you CAN consistantly master one class an average of every 5 - 7 days but this also relies on people being available at those points during your 2.0 epic quest and then at least twice more for the 2.5 and 3.0 when you will need a group. Or one very bored beastlord.
And speaking of epics, I found it helped to do most if not all of the class 1.0 prior to tackling this challenge.
I did mention you will be using up a lot of bank space.
And don't be discouraged by how quickly some others might work through a class or how slowly you seem to be going through each class. A lot of this game can rely on luck at getting quest drops, groups for parts of the quests or is a result of the basic mechanics of some of the classes themselves.
Yes, I do have a solo leveling path I use that seems ideal for going from level 1 - 80 in about an hour or less. It's less if you are getting a speed run for XP after 54 but doing it my way requires certain things so it's better to just ask me via Discord, a PM here or an in-game /tell. Or you know...just make it up yourself.
As of Changelog 5/07/23
You no longer need to take up valuable bank space to store your epics. You can turn them in to the Rebirth Phoenix who will turn that epic effect into a clickable AA.
:Things of Note:
Each time you change class, you will need to speak with Grandmaster Guru again to relearn skills (and spells) This includes the classes you may have already mastered as well.
With the exception of Mining and Synthesizing, all tradeskill levels will be lost when starting a new class. You will need to spend plat to re-master them.
You CANNOT cheat the system and get two epic 2.0 weapons. There are flags in place on those quests that prevent this from happening.
If you begin the 2.0, it is strongly suggested you finish the quest before changing to a new or old class. Stopping mid-way through can bug the quest, making it no longer able to be completed. And really, why even start the 2.0 if you don't plan to finish all of that class's epic quests anyhow?
If I have left something out or mis-typed something you feel needs to be covered or fixed here, please don't just leave a comment, tell me so I can add it or fix it. I don't always check the forums. |
