The new Imperium Patcher is now available to download! Please follow these brief instructions to install: Unzip the Patcher directly into the clients main folder to use. (this is the same folder that "eqgame.exe" is in) Create a short-cut of ImperiumPatcher.exe then place that on your desktop (or where-ever you want) to have easy access. Imperium Patcher: drive.google.com/file/d/1yRFjX2CKcBNXftKDKKf-vGbS2B4GaEjP/view?usp=sharingHUGE thanks and shoutout to Shoob for creating this application for our use and ease of play. Thanks Shoob!!!

This isn't exactly related to the patcher, but I noticed that the link to the client on the website ( imperium-eq.com/pages/install.html) is pointing to a file on the website, rather than the google drive location. The download from the website is taking a lot longer on my 1 GB connection than downloading from google drive. I wondered if you should be using the google link on the website instead?

Just to be clear. Is this patch necessary? Or just recommended for playing on the server?
Thanks!

It just automatically updates the dbstr_us.txt and spell_us.txt files when they are updated. Otherwise you manually have to download and copy those files into your EQ folder when they change (which you find here).

In which case the patcher will be needed, but I am not entirely sure on that. I was hoping he would chime in before anyone else. I do know that he has updated the spell file twice and the links there are old now.

Having up to date spell and dbstr files are absolutely essential for playing on Imperium. These 2 files are vastly different from those needed on other servers.
I make changes and add new things all the time as bugs are found or descriptions are incorrect, the Patcher makes it insanely easy for players to stay current and alot easier for me than updating a bunch of links every time I make a change. (I literally click a single button to upload the new files and that's it.)
The current links as Bupu mentioned are 2 updates behind right now, moving forward I plan to remove those files and links from that post and the patcher will become the only way to obtain the new files. (aside from future client updates, but those are few and very far between.)
For anyone worried about foreign programs running on your machine, I assure you the patcher is 100% safe and free of any malware/virus or anything else. It only has access to read the files in the folder in which you place it and only to download the few specific files if the date on them has changed or they are missing completely when it compares them. It displays the name of any files that were downloaded/changed each time an update is ran.
I would never do anything to jeopardize our player's safety/privacy or the integrity of the server or it's staff members.

Sounds good. I just noticed that the website link was downloading at 1MB/s vs 30MB/s from Google drive. It was going to take me 2 hours to download from the website, so I thought I would just point it out.

Yea, not sure what's up with the site's download speed. I changed the link to point to the Google Drive now. (refresh the page if you've already cached it.) Thanks for the heads up.
