Hello fellow mages,
I switched to RoF client which allows to click (and hotkey) items from bags. For this reason, and considering many non-class items are inventory/bag clickable on the Imperium, I have started like crazy to test different clickies to see if I could cheat a bit by combining mage power and other classes abilities.
So I said to myself that Fear kiting à la necro style would rock in the new custom zones, especially F2 and even more Innothule. I camped the Xalgoz staff (in Kaesora) which has a clicky Invoke Fear and I made a low level Cazic-Thule cleric to do the Initiate Symbol quest which yields a necklace with a clicky Spook the Dead for undead fear kiting (I remembered SolC mobs do not see ITU and several mobs in Innothule are obviously undead), necklace which the cleric than gave to Adon as the quest reward isn't no drop on the Imperium.
Well, our dev team is smart, they kept the usual level restrictions on these Fear spell as they work on live. Both items are usable, you can click them from inv/bag, but the level restrictions apply, so you get the "too high of a level" or, in the case of the necklace, an error message about no valid target.
So if some of you had the same idea than me, don't waste your time camping Xalgoz or creating a Cazic-Thule cleric to do the Initiate quest, the available clicky Fear (the live one and the undead one) won't work on high level trash in the custom zones. No cheating with Fear kiting, and Innothule crocodiles will continue shooting arrows at you :-)
Note that I am not complaining, it is normal in the grand Balance scheme that Fear spells for higher level mobs stay the monopole of the appropriate classes, I was just testing to see if it would work...
On the other hand, I found a snare dot clicky which works (the Ossein which drops in Time from one of the undead bosses in the big undead waves) and a Tash clicky (which is dropped by Venril Sathir), which are pretty useful. The tash clicky allows you to unmem Mala, saving a spell slot, when you need to use an unresistable debuff (both Mala and Tash are unresistable) first to lower a mob's magic resistance so that you have more chance of sticking your best Malosinia spell on a boss. The Ossein is very nice to add dps and to snare trash (which is very useful in Innothule for example).
