Before I start, this is for all Pet classes and not just Mage Pets. This *could* be implemented in the future if the ideas are solid enough for play. So if I go off track a bit and you have something better feel free to dropkick my idea and roll with your better one. Just brainstorming here. With that said lets begin.
As you already know all melee/dps base classes are/were used as pet line classes. War/Rog/Monk/Wizzy They have been the staple of our build layouts and how we played them in our roles as casters. Tanking, reverse kiting, kiting, nuking, ect. But yet it has never occurred to me until recently how come we are missing a melee class in the pet line after Everquest released another full melee class. Not just add a class but cool weapons that can potentially make all pet classes even more enjoyable. Maybe it has already been mentioned or thought of but I haven't heard of it so on that note let me introduce to you the Berserker Pet.
***NEW PET LINE***
Berserker Pet
2 Hander only
Abilities: Volley(axe required)/Flurry on riposte/kick Throws:Axe = Snare/minor damage
Will fall into the same category of dps either between Water and Air Pets or between Monk and Rogue Pets with AC/HP/Stats/Resist survival in between them.
Pick and choose the illusion of your choice gm's to represent this Beserker pet. Add the spell to the list and level you would like us to have it.
Combat: If you give it some summon axes it will throw snare at whatever target you send it to attack. Also with axes or 2 handed axe you can use ability volley every 8 seconds or less. Not sure if having flurry in the mix with volley would make it too strong so if that is the case maybe just riposte flurry or both if that's a option.
As for Beastlords who keep the same pet depending on class just give them a Warder Berserker of some sort maybe.
*** New Potential Draco Merchant 2 Hander Weapons ***
Warrior = 2 Handed sword -> (Beefed up pet version of Health Sword/Aggression with stats of your melee slash weapons combined Hit harder slower delay)
Monk = 2 Handed bo staff -> (Beefed up pet version of Staff of Transcendence with stats of your melee blunt weapons combined Hit harder slower delay)
Rogue = 2 Handed Spear -> (Beefed up pet version of Stabbing daggers with stats of your melee piercing weapons combined Hit harder slower delay)
Wizard = 2 Handed Arcane staff/Wand -> (Beefed up pet version of 2 Boom sticks with stats of your boom stick weapons combined Hit harder slower delay)
Berserker = 2 Handed Axe (Beefed up pet version of 2 handed axe category with stats of your melee weapons combined Hit hardest out of all 2 hand/slower delay)
I think with this addition you will not only have a new line of weapons that pets can use period, you would have a new pet line all together that people would love to play. You can tinker out the balance issues after and set a new level of creativity amongst the server and players to enjoy. If none of this is feasible I hope at least it sparks a thought in someone to come up with a idea just as good or better then this one.
The power is in the code and let the Masters of code work their magic.
