Just an observation from someone who plays at odd times, it's sometimes difficult to resolve some of these issues because of the gaps in the GM's online presence.
Late during my evenings, there are rarely any GM's to be seen. Most of these incidents are not worth taking the time to report on the forums but if there was a GM present in-game, it would be possible to resolve some of these issues on the spot.
I am not privy to the GM discussions, I'm sure there are always discussions going on behind closed doors about certain events. I wonder, however, if it's not already being discussed, if it's worth looking at trying to fill that gap with a Guide. Wouldn't need anywhere near as much power as a GM, just enough to enforce server rules and help to mediate or resolve certain situations. The increase in server population, I believe, may warrant such a thing. Someone who can repop zones to help out with bugged events, reimburse lost items or move or even suspend people who are causing trouble.
Obviously, like with all positions of power, it would need to be someone who can remain unbiased and not abuse the power. That list is probably pretty short, I realise, but I think it's probably necessary at this point to have someone with SOME form of power on at all times to help things flow better in the event of an incident. I will keep an eye out for people who are on regularly during my main play time so as to maybe make a few suggestions.
I make this suggestion as an alternative to scouring logs every day to make sure people were good when no-one was around to watch. It might also help to keep a lot of the minor bug reports and requests out of the forums and allow the higher level GM's to focus on running the server, so they aren't bogged down with mundane, day to day issues.
