I get two kinds of crashes when zoning, and neither of these are specifically when boxing, though it seems to happen (not so coincidentally) twice as often when boxing.
The first crash is the client entirely disappears. Usually this only happens to one box. The process for getting back online after this happens is quite obnoxious as well, for the client which hits the desktop ALWAYS gets disconnected when trying to log back in the first time. I assume this has something to do with the character still being stuck in the world somehow.
The second crash is more concerning. The game simply freezes when the "Loading XXXXX zone message appears". It simply hangs there forever, but more importantly I can't close either window, or anything other window/program with ANY method. Sometimes the window simply turns black (just the EQ window), and it hangs there forever. Control Alt Delete (Task Manager) remains forever hidden behind the frozen EQ window, and in the end the only way I can close them without a full system reboot is to "Sign Out" of windows, then come back. When I attempt to log back in for the first time I almost always get the "Disconnected" window appear, then I can log in.
Every single time I zone I cringe. The server's actually awesome for I've really enjoyed my time, but with that said the zone crashes are a real drag.
FYI I've read some of the "Solving Crashes" post on the forums. I've got multiple games installed that require DX11, and so installing 9.0c isn't an option for me, unless I'm misunderstanding how DX installs work? Is this the root of the problem? I've not added any of the custom dll's either, will this actually help?
