The Purpose
To explain how Everquest combat mechanics work so that members of the Imperium community can maximize their potential, reduce unnecessary deaths and we will even point out how to gain a significant boost to your DPS. Everquest has many mechanics throughout a combat routine, all of which are within your ability to control, manipulate or minimize, that even the most veteran of EQ players aren't aware of. It all starts at a center focal point, weither that's you while out in the world with your boxed toon or the tank in a group or raid. Every moment of combat has a center and from that center, everything that happens is decided. Disclaimer: EQEmu's are custom servers, meaning that a developer has the ability to modify many aspects of the game world. I do not have access to the Imerium code or its SQL database, so most of the information detailed below is either from parsing data, extensive testing, EQ Live data or the raw Lucy data from EQ Live. While EQEmu was developed around the Lucy data pulled directly from EQ Live, the information below won't be in absolutes. For example, the warrior AE taunt ability has a range of 30 feet, approximately twice that of the standard melee range. An EQEmu developer can change that to 3 feet if they wanted to.
