Not sure if this is considered a bug or not, but it's extremely annoying none the less. There's no need for NPCs to summon when you're standing within their reach. Nothing like getting 2-3 mobs and chain bouncing all over the place saying you cant see your target because they wont stop spamming summon.

Normal EQ behavior at its finest!
But seriously try and stack them on top of each other and then jam yourself under them and you shouldn't be ping ponging

I dont ever remember normal EQ summoning when you're engaged with the mob and it is in range to melee you back. The only time it ever summoned was if you were out of range to it or any of its abilities.

Just glad I have /face fast I navigate using the map when that happens the issue is more that you have to /face constantly because one push and you can no longer see target. I would be super happy to see only special mobs (named ect) with summon. Summon ping pong interrupting spells is the very highest cause of death.

The sole reason we add summon to npc's, trash included is to prevent root doting and aggro kiting mobs in raid type zones. Most group and solo zone mobs don't summon as often, although there are exceptions.
Far as the npc summoning you when you're in melee range, that has to do with the npc size and how big there hit box is, the bigger the hit box the more chance of being summoned even though you're in striking distance.
