Hello Rangers,
I wanted to get your opinion on the experience of being a high end ranger I like the appeal of being able to hunt down my prey and actually being able to systematically kill all potential place holders for high end gear instead of killing the wrong guys over and over and well over again.
What do you like / dislike about the Ranger and do you feel that you are effective in the high end?
Is track all that useful?

There is nothing that makes them stand out, not to say that this won't change in the future. I love the class but right now I have no reason to level one. Track is useless due to MQ2. All you need to do is type /assist *name* and the map will show u exactly where your target it. As for placeholders, no need to kill them. If the zone is empty, you can zone out and back in to reset everything, including placeholders and even what a boss's loot is. If your looking for a weapon and the boss isn't holding it, rezone. If your looking for a non weapon drop and the boss is holding two weapons, rezone until he's barehanded. Just a few examples.

MacroQuest 2, it's an external program that enhances certain things in the game. Do not use it to warp or perform automated actions. Most people load it up as is for the improved maps and improved tooltips.

It's probably best to not use it at all, easier to avoid the temptation and not be banned.

I like the idea of maps... for some reason the in game map link/ download doesn't work I had indicators of names but I couldn't see a map of say lower guk

I love rangers and they have always been my first choice of class to play. That being said they are not that great on this server because of the mechanics here. My warrior does more dps than my ranger and he can tank better. There are a few reasons why and ill list them here, this are not so much complaints as much as the server mechanics and theres no real true way to fully balance everything.
1. rangers, along with other non tank melee, cant aoe melee mobs. this is due to the plate neck clicky. the solution would be to either let all melee classes have a aoe clicky, OR remove the aoe clicky from tank classes (would make tanks holding agro very difficult on larger pulls) OR fix the plate neck as it is currently bugged to last forever instead of only 1m like its supposed to......get ready for outrage if this happened. 2. Archery as usual blows. There is no double attack for archery and the damage is super sporadic. 32dmg followed by 32k dmg. Also the trueshot disc is broke and does not work. 3. Melee dmg is not on par with other classes due to weapons that are not as good. Solution would be to make the ranger only weapons better dmg/dly or maybe ranger only augs with more dmg on them. Or the dreaded nerf of other classes.......i personally dont think dragging other classes down is the answer 4. Spells. Spells are part of the rangers dps. However every class in the game can cast the same DoTs that rangers do with clicky items. Also rangers can cast nukes but the best nuke here is a lvl 80 spell with pretty much no refresh. it does good damage however you can literally chain cast it over and over, while doing this though you are not actually doing melee dmg or are doing way less han normal. in the end its not effective dps because the nuke even spam casting is still not good dps and its also a very high agro spell.
There are a couple other things i am missing i am sure but thats the few that stick out. A lot of the "fixes" to rangers are actually fixes to monks as well. The things i would like to see to improve rangers to be more viable dps are this.
1. Either make the ranger only weapons better dmg/dly OR put in ranger specific weapon augs that have extra dmg to them. 2. Some sort of AOE Melee dmg for not only rangers but monks as well. 3. Spells------i am not sure on this one. perhaps make the ranger nuke have a longer refresh time on casting but have more base dmg? DoTs-------not sure how to tackle this without effecting every other class. 4. Since weaponshield AND trueshot discs are broke and unfixable perhaps give rangers some sort of other ability or a ranger only item with a cool clicky to compensate for have 2 class defining abilities being broke.
