As Ive said else where on forum I have played Eq for a long time but almost always solo. This meant that i was always at least 1 expansion behind and so I hardly ever has to quest to get access to a zone i wanted, and I never ever raided. Here its different and I want to enjoy the content and not "cheat" by buying keys as I have done to get access to tier 2.
So having no clue as to what i need to do ive searched this form ( the search function isn't all that good btw) and alla`s and allaclone but they assume a certain level of knowledge about raiding which i don't possess.
Here are my basic questions.
1. As this sever (and very good it is ) is solo/duo balanced at what levels should i be going to try the keys for access to tier 3 and 4
2. Are these raid zones i need to be in or are they normal zones and i just need to fight to the named.
3. Where can i read about this severs progression so that i don't have to bother all you nice players. Links would be helpful if you can please.
4. Why are zones like Acrylia Caverns locked to me when I could play them and from what I`ve read they are locked until I am way passed the levels where the zone would be useful and fun to play.
I know these may seem silly to some but to for me they are my only way of being able to attempt to the progression route.
Thanks again for your help

Thank you for the answer. I never had to do Planes progression as when i returned they were just level locked. I have now done Trakanon and understand that the tier NPC`s will port me to where i need to be. Thats a great help This server just seems to be getting better and better. I still am unsure as to how early I can manage the next tier but a little experimental dieing to the mobs will show that . If you don't mind ill pop you in my friends list and send you a tell in game. One of the reasons I didn't raid was the timing of them as I live in UK and am mostly on during the day and raids happen mostly in the late evenings into the early hours and I just couldn't be on then.

I'm a bit late here but for anyone else that asks: For the most part you should be able to hit each tier's boss when you hit max level that the expansion was originally aimed at. That is obviously just a rough guide because it depends greatly on gear and AA's but assuming you have hit the old "max" level and spent a decent amount of time gearing it should be relatively straight forward. If you are soloing (yourself + bot's only - not boxing) then you may want to be a few levels higher.
As a rough guide: Naggy/Vox - 50 geared with a few artifacts Trak - 60 geared with artifacts/PoHate & PoFear stuff NToV/Veeshan's - 60 geared with a mix of artifacts, dwarf/giant armour and then NToV armour Ssra - 60 with VP stuff and some aa's Vex Thal - 60 with VP/some ssra stuff and aa's PoP up to PoTime - 65 with VT gear and decent amount of aa's. Keep doing VT run's every lockout to finish out your gear - you will need it for Sol Ro. PoTime - 65 with full elemental mold gear (sans chest) + decent aa's
After that you pretty much want to spend as long as it takes to fully gear in each area before moving on. So don't hit GoD until you are full PoTime geared, etc. If you don't want to stick strictly to the old level limit you can substitute levels and aa for gear to a certain extent. eg doing VT at 70 with lot's of AA will need less gearing than sticking to 60.

This also depends upon classes. Some classes, like Necromancers for example, who use Life Tap for damage and healing can progress through this way earlier. I ended up buying some infused gear in baz before i hit PoTime and it was a cakewalk. Other classes, like my SK for example, can't handle Naggy/Vox/Trak at 40 like my Necro could, being based upon spell damage and heal amount, with melee. Early game, melee output is far inferior to spell damage. However, around PoTime at 65 (regardless of gear so long as you're not naked and picked up what you could) it evens out somewhat (although twinking will always make a superior toon) as my SK had an easier time at 65 handling PoTime than my Necro did, minus a few minutes here and there depending on boss mechanics. GoD T2 progression, though, you must be well geared. Up until then it's kind of like playing soccer against a baby.
