It is no secret that neither the players nor the devs want to continue the plat/aa grind style server. While I'm sure that the devs already have some ideas in the works and on the drawing board about what to do next, why not also give them some ideas of content that we would like to see implemented for future quests / progression / gear? This includes, but is not limited to, content that existed on Live EQ, content that we have seen in other games / other EQEMU servers, and content that has never been implemented before.
I'll get us started!
On the Storm Haven server, they implemented this Sacrifice, PoTime, Corathus system, that existed so that higher level players could delevel and obtain gear that would make them strong enough to solo Naggy/Vox, but had no level restrictions so they could wear it at 50-52.
Sacrifice: At level 70, players could send their character back to level 1 in return for being flagged for a special version of PoTime. Once they got back to level 70, they could sacrifice themselves again to get an item that could flag someone else for potime.
PoTime: Detailed well at epicdawn.com/wiki/index.php/Plane_of_Time_A
Corathus: Also detailed well at epicdawn.com/wiki/index.php/Corathus_A
Any of these ideas, in conjuction with each other, separately, or modified, would be really cool to see implemented.
TSS breath weapon and wanderlust guild loadstone and BiC are all really cool examples of multi-level quests that span over the entire coarse of an expansion - I especially liked TSS because it started when your were level 1 and could progress until you were max level. On this server, we have charms and the new melee clicky that are both representative of this style of quest, and I love both of them. I know these take immense amounts of work because of how long and extensive the quests are, but I just wanted to express how fulfilling and great they are, and I would love to see more of them. I currently don't have any ideas for them, because I know you are doing custom content and I don't know what you're planning to do with said custom content. However, a good guildeline is always to go with some combination of both boss drops and player-crafted items from drops within the expansion.
Personally, I've always absolutely loved progression, lore, and fights with the gods. Honestly, if you decided to create a raid event in which you just beefed up the PoP gods and had us kill them for exp, plat, or loot, I would not be offended whatsoever.
As I just looked on Allakhazam, I noticed that they were talking about Hardcore Heritage starting up again, in which they revamp old zones into current tier content, and modify the loot to be current stats as well. I'd be excited to see this happen on this server as well. If this was done, I think a poll of what the server community's favorite old zones are would be awesome.
I imagine this would be very time consuming to implement, but in the Veil of Alaris expansion, they created a mission / raid called "The Herald of the Oratory", which is very nicely outlines on both Alla and Rapsers (http://rasper.samanna.net/VoA/VoL_M_2.html) . Anything to do with strategy regardless of our character would be pretty cool to see.
In general, the EQ developers, imo, started getting more "creative" with their raid designs starting in Underfoot. Allakhazam and Elite Gamers Lounge(http://elitegamerslounge.com/home/raidwiki/index.php?title=Main_Page) have quite detailed reports of these raids, and I think they would be great resources to look through - if you haven't already done them, or haven't already been reading through them.
Examples of these:
everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=3186
everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=3213
everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=3202
everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=3229
everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=3230
That's all the ideas I have right now. If others start contributing, I'll update this main post with their ideas as well.
In conclusion: Thank you to the developers and GMs for all their hard work. This is by far my favorite server - even compared to live - and I really hope to see it gain players and flourish for a long time.

I know the feelings are mixed about these, but personnally I liked very much the system of group missions for quested spells implemented in DoD era.
