My suggestion is a group heal proc, like the one on the Tacvi 2H, but possibly with a small group cure as well. Perhaps 9 counters for all detrimental effects?
I don't want it so powerful that it removes the need to actively cure but having a Paladin in the group that can passively top up group HP and keep minor detrimental effects at bay would be nice. Just enough perhaps to counter sustained minor group damage, I wouldn't want it to completely negate the need for active gameplay, that would be boring.

Is it for a weapon or non weapon? I'm just going to rattle off ideas because i'm passionate about paladins and i absolutely love the potentially awesome things that can be done with them.
1. I think something that produces a group heal with cure would be great, but also some kind of group buff that puts a 50 percent mitigation buff on with a damage cap as a buffer ( think higher percent cleric vie line with lower caps) on top of the heal, so when it procs when people are full health and nothing to cure it still adds something and isn't completed wasted. If thats to high of a percent to have a cap with, could just absorb the next hit on them or have a lower percent mitigated while maintianing a cap. I love the idea of a paladin protecting his allies beyond just healing them.
2. Another idea would be a Heal over Time that cures per tick or has a mitigation buff on it, maybe a clickie that's single target and has a cooldown equal to duration so you have to choose 1 person. (although sometimes as a paladin you don't have time to click anything and get stuck in a heal rotation that's very demanding when self healing through certain boss fights.)
3. A proc or clickie that is straight up just a vie like buff for the group so it doesn't automate the healing process, but still gives protection in another way. (could even balance to be lower on the paladin himself while increased on allies so it doesnt drive the paladin into unkillable.)
4. A Focus effect that makes stun's proc some combination of heal/cure/defensive buff so a stun for aggro doesn't completely screw your heal rotation in a pinch.
5. Paladins have kinda been anti caster tanks throughout Everquest's history. Fast cast aa interrupt, silent piety buff that blocks 10 percent of all spells no matter on resists, sanctification disc that gives 10,000 percent more resists for 18 seconds or so, and even a pathetic be it, mana drain. So expanding on this would be really cool too, maybe with some kind of resist buff that expands on silent piety, or a group version? Perhaps a duration length buff with longer cooldown that acts like sanctification. There is something to be had in a skill cap ability of timing some form of short duration spell immunity to time up with potential risk zones when you are hit by a big melee round and are not off cooldown to heal high enough to absorb the inc nuke by the boss.
6. Focus for when using sword and board you get increased block chance, and when using 2handed weapons you get increased flurry chance or some other benefit
7. A simple massive instant cast group heal with a reasonably long cooldown for in a pinch oh shit moments.
8. 30 second buff clickie with 5 min+ (even as high as 15 min) cooldown that gives off some form of heal proc or mitigation buff for essentially another defensive tool in our toolbox. Even something like a 30 second group defensive, where it gives the group mitigation instead of just the paladin. I love the idea of reducing ramp damage on your friends being a protector.
9. A Self Divine intervention type buff with a cooldown so it can't be spammed, like a once per boss fight safety net, not a full heal either.
10. How does shield ac work here? On live shield ac was treated specially from other ac, with shield ac treated as under the soft cap. If thats the case here ( dont see why it wouldn't be) maybe just a sick statistical shield aug with just amazing ac on it or a shield only aug that has a worn mitigation buff, further rewarding sacrificed damage for defense.. This would be simple if you are not looking for anything outlandish like perhaps a few of my other ideas.
11. As an offensive twist, maybe a offensive ability that allows us to flag things around us as undead for reasonably short period of time, so we can slay some stuff, especially with the rampage clickie. This could give us the ability to do some potential ae melee damage in short bursts, even if its cooldown is high.
12. A hybrid offensive and defensive usage ability to have like twin proc or even triple procs for a duration of time with a decent cooldown. Allowing us a little more damage from our procs, a little more healing from procs.
13. A utility debuff that can be place on either ae or single target worth of mobs, that triggers off procs to people who damage that mob that either heal them or put mitigation buffs on them. if its a mitigation buff maybe can do vie line again, but have it also add heroic stats like str or sta. So the paladin can further enchance his allies while he is tanking, ( the vie buff would probably be knocked off decently quick on the paladin himself, in return only giving a short burst of the heroic stat, while most likely lasting much longer on his allies unless extreme rampage damage is being churned out.
14. A Long cool down 1 charge proc that does a large amount of direct magic damage (basically a smite type of ability) to give us a potentially fun large number to see but wont be usable more then once a fight at best. Or could even break it into 3 charge proc that are smaller if you don't want paladins to have too large of numbers.
15. A ramping ac buff? i don't even know if this is possible, but what about a short duration buff that the more you are hit or swung at the more ac it gives, and it scales either indefinitely till time expires or has a cap as well as time limit.
16. AE stun with 10 second duration instead of 4 second like current, but with atleast a 2 min cooldown. This would give bursts of essentially damage mitigation and control with stacking this on top of our 4 second stun while keeping the cooldown long enough to ensure it is only a supplemental tool and not a win condition.
17. Divine Avatar - A 15-30 min cooldown clickie that gives us 1 to 3 minutes of some badassary that does a combination of any of these buffs: ac, hps, resists chance ( even detrimental resist like silent piety ) atk, heal amount, proc chance, mitigation buff, triiiple cast heal ( vs twincast currently ), flurry, crit chance, heroic stats, ect. I always thought this would be a really fun twist, calling on the power of the paladins diety to champion for them and show your enemies the true might of your god.
This is the first 17 ideas that poped into my head that would make me love this class on this server even more then i already do. Some are obviously more powerful then other's. Not sure how strong of a class aug you want to go with. I agree with Genesis in the fact that to much automation can make it boring and should be tuned to be supplemental to our existing ability instead of replacement as i always love the rewarding feeling of successful reactive play.

Some more ideas!
A defensive that purification style cures you of everything on you currently when clicked, then puts a rune on you that also mitigates damage and finally when the rune wears off it procs a significant Heal over time. ( think layhands HoT ). Just using numbers to clarify it. Cast clickie and cures everything on you, then a 50,000 hp rune goes up, but also gives you 50 percent mitigation during the rune so it lasts a bit longer then when the rune finishes a HoT goes up. Could also do avoidance instead of mitigation.
A defensive that gives a form of mitigation along with detrimental spell resist at the same time.

I don't think mitigation affects runes, I could be wrong though.
I'm a big fan of more cures, that's why I asked for a proc group cure because I'm forever curing and it drives me bonkers.

Paladin augs Squire servant I think a servant who comes out and buffs/heals/fights by your side and gives you a special buff kinda like a imp or aa servant but designed just for paladins would be cool. What knight doesn't have his trusty servant and companion at his side for battle. Assault of the heavens : A aug that unleashes a volley of angels that attack the target kinda like Host of elements on a mage but on a Paladin with more angels and holy attacks like the gods are on your side type deal. Divine Jaggenaunt: You call on a Divine jaggenaunt that spawns and absorbs all incoming damage. Basically a absorb shield or mitigation as a minion but cooler cause a minion is up and he can fight by your side until all damage is absorbed. Soul of destruction: Imbued weapon/buff Treats all targets as undead attacking the soul itself upping your damage in with imbued weapons, holy spells, and normal attacks. Angels blessing: summons mini angels for each group member for 15 seconds aiding with heals, blessings, and 1 special duration buff. Arch Angel: On shield block procs conjures up a Arch Angel that destroys those who attack its defender. Kinda like abyss weapons but with shield block. Angel of Death: For every block you get a stack on your shield and if the stack reaches 50 charges unleashes a angel of death that spawns and marks all targets attacking with the mark of death. Once target mark reaches 0 they die instantly. If its a boss they take massive damage. Shield Burst: After so many blocks your shield unleashes a massive burst of energy with a aoe cone hitting all targets in front. This is a few idea's i was thinking about on the fly maybe it will jumpstart someone else on something even better. Hope everyone has a good day.

Everyone is running around with 2 handers even when they are tanks and tanking a boss they have 2 handers. So having more shield augs and procs off defensive moves and spawns or activations would bring a whole new mix to the server and get people very excited to play tanks with a shield again. Doesn't necessarily have to be what i mentioned above but Tanks should be awarded for great defense and above is just a sample of things that we can do to reinvent tanking.

Ok thing is pally and sk epics are 2 handers and best in game when they come out. So my question is do you want to give it up for a shield..or better yet does the gms wanna make pally one 1hs
