Hello All,
I recently decided to start playing again, and went to in stall the official Imperium RoF2 client. I ran the redist of directX that was included, and performed the "patchme" steps as usual. The client still crashes back to desktop before even loading to the server select screen. Has anyone else had this issue before? Are there any suggestions as to what might be causing this, or can be done?
Thank You

Double check the patch me. should read like: \eqgame.exe" patchme
Sounds like you maybe having a display issue. Open the properties on the shortcut and see how it is trying to run it. Mine runs as a normal window.
Might even have to look at the options prior to log in.

I agree, it's likely a screen resolution conflict. Hit the Options on the Login screen and adjust your resolution settings to the lowest, then when in-game adjust them to your liking.

The target is "C:\Users\Name\Desktop\Imperium RoF2_v1.6\Imperium RoF2\eqgame.exe" patchme so I think that part is ok. I've tried changing the properties to "Normal Window", "Maximized" and "Minimized" I tried running it in compatibility mode for past versions of windows. I tried running it with every toggle in the "settings" tab on/off. It always just opens a black window and then closes again instantly. Sturm, I am unable to get to the options menu. It closes itself before any menu has a chance to display. It's kind of perplexing.

Are you getting an error message of any sort?

No, it just opens a black window and then closes immediately

You'll likely need to adjust your resolution manually then in the eqclient.ini file. Make sure you create a back-up copy before you make any changes.
Edit Line 15: WindowedMode=TRUE

That didn't seem to have any effect. I tried a few things that the internet suggested like going to OptionsEditor.exe and adjusting the resolution there. Everything is just listed as "string not found" though. There was another file that let me modify the resolutions that I can't seem to recall, but that didn't work either. Anyway, thank you for giving some suggestions. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be lol.

I got it to work finally I re-downloaded and installed the client, re-installed the DirectX redist and manually set the resolution to 1600X1200. Something in there cause it to work. Thanks again for your help!
