I would like to start a thread on this theme to explore this new feature available on Imperium.

To start mining, you need to speak with Master Miner (#zone guildlobby -175 554 3) in the GuildLobby, located in the tradeskills section.

He will give you a copper pick at first, and will give you a new one with better mining skills.

What does it mean to mine ?

Mining is the action of using the pick given by Master Miner on a deposit located somewhere in a zone (/say mine with the pick in your primary hand).

Every hunting zone should have a deposit to mine, there is a list of the zone with the locations of the deposit below this post.

If you have some locations to share, just post it or PM me, I'll update this post.

A deposit is on a fixed location with a fixed respawn timer.

So if you go to the location that you will find here and there is no deposit, it was depleted earlier

What you will mine from the deposit depends on the pick you have.

There are a total of 400 skill points in both Mining and Synthesizing. These are broken down in 20 point segments, with a little wiggle room.

Mining :
Each pick will take you up 20 skill points.

You can start using the next pick 5 skill points before the previous pick is no good.

Copper will take you from 0 - 20

Tin will take you from 15 - 40

Bronze takes you from 35 - 60

etc...

Please Note : There are rich ore deposits, mining these will result in the next ore. You will not be able to use or skill up on them until you have reached the correct skill level.

To upgrade your pick, Master Miner requires a crate of gear to flag you for the next pick.

You can buy crate from Merchant Syn (#zone guildlobby -109 616 0)

1 crate contain a full set of armor : BP/robe, legs, helm, vambrace, boots, 2 bracers, gloves/gauntlets
A crate can be normal or +1 or +2.

! Watch out ! If you hand in the crate early, you will be flagged for the picks but not able to use them or receive a new pick of that type until you reach the skill level required for that pick.

You can ask Master miner for an old pick, just follow the conversation with him.

Synthesizing :
You can start using the next ore 5 skill points before the previous ore is no good.

Copper will take you from 0 - 20

Tin will take you from 15 - 40

Bronze takes you from 35 - 60

etc...

What can you do with the materials mined ?

You can craft weapons and armors from the materials (forge/loom)

The better the materials, the better the recipe.

Speak with the merchant Syn (#zone guildlobby -109 616 0), near Master Miner in the tradeskills section, he will sell you the books with the basic recipe, the armor recipe, and the weapon recipe.

What materials can you mine ?

Copper pick + Ore deposit = Copper Ore
Copper pick + Rich Ore Deposit = Copper Ore with a small chance to find Tin Ore

Tin pick + Ore deposit = Tin Ore
Tin pick + Rich Ore Deposit = Tin Ore with a small chance to find Bronze Ore

Bronze pick + Ore deposit = Bronze Ore
Bronze pick + Rich Ore Deposit = Bronze Ore with a small chance to find Iron Ore

Iron pick + Ore deposit = Iron Ore
Iron pick + Rich Ore Deposit = Iron Ore with a small chance to find Lead Ore

I'm at work so don't have my data handy, but I have 80-90 ore deposit locations.

As far as recipes, they are all the same, with the ore type being the only variable.

All recipes can be found in the books sold by the synthesis vendor.

Edit - I should note that many of these locations are not safe and will have argo mobs hitting you.

I'm not sure if this is working as intended, but you can mine while FD. I use the locations to increase my hunts and kill all the mobs around many of these locations.

I also have a screen shot of all the picks (in skill order) I can upload when I get home.

And now, for "Shoob's Lazy Miner".

Instructions are at the top of the application, but here you go!

Simply paste your list of locations in the center text box of the application (note it does not load or save, I personally keep a text file and just paste them in).
Pressing CTRL-N will place the next item in the list on your clipboard, if you are on the last item, it goes back to the top of the list.
Blank lines are skipped, so feel free to break it up visually if you like.
Any change to the list will place you at the first location on the next Ctrl-N.

Locations can be of the form:
#zone fieldofbone 2932 -783 46
or:
/say #zone fieldofbone 2932 -783 46
if you prefer.

Load up your list, and you never have to leave your EQ window again!
Just hit Ctrl-N, paste the location into EQ with Ctrl-V, wait for your character to zone, start mining!
Once the ore is depleted, repeat the process.

I have 2, one for normal ore and one for rich deposits.

Normal:
/tar Ore

/pause 5,/say mine

/autoinventory

Rich:
/tar rich

/pause 5,/say mine

/autoinventory

As the first official consumer of Shoob's Lazy Miner app, I give it two thumbs up. I would give it more, but I only have two. This app saved my thumbs and fingers alt tabbing over to excel and increased mining output 64%. Thank you Shoob!
